53-2-306. County department charged with local administration of public assistance. Except in a county that has transferred its public assistance and protective services responsibilities to the state under part 8 of this chapter, the county department of public welfare is charged with the local administration of all forms of public assistance operations in the county. All local administration must conform to federal and state law and the rules established by the department of public health and human services.
