53-24-216. Suspension or revocation of certification. (1) The department may suspend or revoke the certification of a chemical dependency counselor, according to the procedure contained in 53-24-217, if he has violated the professional ethics standards published by the department. A person may not practice as a certified chemical dependency counselor during the period for which certification is suspended or revoked.
(2) The department may not suspend certification for more than 6 months. Upon termination of the suspension period, the person whose certification has been suspended shall undergo a department review before resuming practice as a certified chemical dependency counselor.
(3) The department may not revoke a certificate for less than 3 years. Upon termination of the revocation period, the person whose certificate has been revoked may apply to the department for recertification.
