19-6-501. Eligibility for service retirement benefit. (1) A member first employed by the Montana highway patrol on or before July 1, 1985, is eligible to receive a service retirement benefit after completing 20 years or more of membership service and terminating service.
(2) A member first employed by the Montana highway patrol after July 1, 1985, is eligible to receive a service retirement benefit when the member has reached age 50, completed 20 years or more of membership service, and terminated service.
