37-18-501. Penalty. A person practicing veterinary medicine within this state, as defined in this chapter, without first having obtained a license to practice and being registered as required by this chapter or after his license to practice has been suspended or revoked or contrary to the provisions of this chapter in any manner is guilty of a misdemeanor for each violation of the provisions of this chapter or for each act relating to the practice of veterinary medicine in this state and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than $200 or more than $500, or by imprisonment in the county jail for not less than 30 days or more than 6 months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Any person convicted a second time for any violation of this chapter shall be punished by both such fine and imprisonment. The district court has jurisdiction of all prosecutions brought hereunder.
