     7-21-3211. Employment of stock inspector. (1) Whenever the board of county commissioners is satisfied, from its own knowledge or from facts and circumstances submitted to it by the county attorney or sheriff, that livestock is being stolen, slaughtered, or otherwise disposed of contrary to law in such county and in such manner that the public officers of the county are not in position to apprehend the criminals or obtain the necessary evidence upon which to base a prosecution, the board of each county, except in counties of the first class, has the power to employ a stock inspector.
     (2) Whenever such a stock inspector is so employed, the employment shall be only for the case or cases then under investigation. During the existence of such appointment, he shall be vested with the same police power and authority as the sheriff, within the limitation of the purposes for which he is appointed.
