7-6-4234. Effect of exceeding budget appropriations -- personal liability. Expenditures made or liabilities incurred in excess of any specific appropriation contained in the annual appropriation resolution provided for in 7-6-4267, as originally determined or as revised, are not a liability of the municipality, but the official making or incurring the obligation is liable for the obligation personally and upon the official's bond. The subsequent claims approval process may not be considered making or incurring an obligation.
