3-1-606. Justice of the peace or constable not to purchase judgment. (1) A justice of the peace may not purchase or be interested in the purchase of any judgment or part thereof on his docket or on any docket in his possession. A constable may not purchase or be interested in the purchase of any judgment or part thereof on the docket of a justice of the peace of the county of which he is a constable or on a docket in the possession of such a justice.
     (2) Violation of subsection (1) is a misdemeanor.
