7-4-4202. Minimum salary of chief of police. (1) From and after July 1, 1969, the salary of the chief of police in cities of the first class shall not be less than $650 per month for the first year of service and thereafter at least $650 per month plus 1% of said minimum base monthly salary for each additional year of service up to and including the 20th year of such additional service.
(2) From and after July 1, 1957, the annual salary and compensation of the chief of police in cities of the second class shall be not less than $425 per month for the first year of service and thereafter at least $425 per month plus 1% of said minimum base monthly salary for each additional year of service up to and including the 20th year of such additional service.
(3) From and after July 1, 1957, the salary and compensation of the chief of police in cities of the third class shall be not less than $325 per month for the first year of service and thereafter at least $325 per month plus 1% of said minimum base monthly salary for each additional year of service up to and including the 20th year of such additional service.
(4) Subject to such minimum, the salary of the chief of police may be increased from time to time by the mayor, subject to the consent and approval of the council.
