81-9-227. Application for state meat inspection service -- assignment of establishment number. (1) Any meat establishment licensed under 81-9-201 may apply to the board for state meat and poultry inspection service. The application must include:
(a) the name and address of the establishment;
(b) the type of establishment;
(c) a complete description of the facilities and equipment;
(d) the day of the week and hours of the day when the establishment is in operation; and
(e) other information required by the chief.
(2) The chief, upon receipt of the application, shall inspect the applicant's facilities and equipment. If the establishment is found to be clean and sanitary and if it meets the requirements of 81-9-216 through 81-9-220 and 81-9-226 through 81-9-236, the board shall authorize the granting of state meat inspection service to the applicant. The board shall then assign an official establishment number to the approved establishment to be used to mark the meat of the carcasses and parts of carcasses that are offered for sale.
