69-14-115. Investigation, enforcement, and report concerning railroad safety laws. (1) The commission shall:
(a) make inquiry into the observance by all railroads within this state of the laws of the United States and of Montana intended to safeguard railroad employees;
(b) file a complaint before the proper state or federal officer for an infraction of any of the safety laws referred to in subsection (1)(a); and
(c) prosecute before the proper court or tribunal any person guilty of violation of the safety laws referred to in subsection (1)(a).
(2) The commission shall prepare an annual report specifying the effort it has made to carry out the provisions of this section, the results of the efforts, and in detail what steps it has taken to prosecute any violations of the safety laws of which it has secured information.
