69-14-131. Enforcement duties of commission. The commission shall see that the provisions of this chapter and all laws of this state concerning railroads are enforced and obeyed and that violations of those laws are promptly prosecuted and penalties due the state are recovered and collected. The commission shall report all violations, with the facts in its possession, to the attorney general or other officer charged with the enforcement of the laws and request the officer to institute the proper proceedings. All suits between the state and any railroad must have precedence in all courts over all civil causes, except for criminal business and original proceedings in the supreme court.
