The State-Tribal Relations Committee will review several legislative proposals related to motor carrier services, runaway youth, missing persons, and federal recognition of the Little Shell at its June 24-26 meeting.

The proposals include:

• Motor carrier services bill draft (PD0007 TH)
• Statutory reference changes in light of Little Shell's federal recognition  (PD0001)
• Runaway youth
  • Homeless shelter consent - Bill draft (PD0006)
  • Graduation requirements - updated bill draft (PD0007 HS)
• Bill draft (PD0008) to establish a missing persons review commission
• Bill draft (PD0010) to establish a missing persons response team training grant program
• Bill draft (PD0011) to extend the Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force
• Bill draft (PD0012) to extend the Missing Indigenous Persons Task Force and the Looping in Native Communities grant program

As the legislature's liaison with tribal governments, the STRC is scheduled to meet with the Fort Belknap Indian Community Council and the Fort Peck Executive Board June 24 and 25, respectively.

The committee will also hear from the governor's director of Indian Affairs, discuss the all mail ballot primary election with county election administrators and stakeholders, and get updates related to its study of improving communication between the state and tribes regarding cases of child abuse and neglect.
