     5-17-302. Pearl Harbor memorial committee -- purpose -- membership -- duties. (1) There is a Pearl Harbor memorial committee. The committee shall develop a memorial to be placed at the state capitol to commemorate survivors of the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor.
     (2) The committee consists of at least four members appointed by the governor. Committee members shall serve until the memorial is completed and shall select a presiding officer and other officers as necessary. Committee members shall serve on a voluntary, uncompensated basis.
     (3) The committee shall:
     (a) design a memorial to commemorate survivors of the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor;
     (b) recommend the placement of the memorial within the capitol complex; and
     (c) raise the funds to pay for the memorial.
     (4) The design and placement of the memorial must be approved by the department of administration, in consultation with the Montana historical society.
