The Law and Justice Interim Committee (LJIC) is a partisan committee of the Legislature that conducts interim studies related to law and justice topics. The committee also provides administrative rule review, draft legislation review, program evaluation, and oversight for the Department of Corrections (DOC), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Office of State Public Defender (OPD). LJIC also serves as the liaison to the Judicial Branch of Montana.
The committee's statutory duties are in 5-5-226, MCA.
