Montana State Legislature
Montana Medical Marijuana Act
Montana Medical Marijuana Act
In revamping the Montana Medical Marijuana Act in 2011, the Legislature specifically required the Children, Families, Health, and Human Services Interim Committee to monitor the implementation of the law and to draft legislation if members believe changes to the law are necessary. Senate Bill 333 in 2017 expanded state regulation of the medical marijuana program and instituted a tax on gross sales. It also increased the committee's monitoring duties. Materials related to the committee's monitoring are provided below.
In March 2018, the Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee asked that the Children and Families Committee object to the administrative rules adopted for the program. At its March 23 meeting, committee members asked the committee attorney to draft a formal objection to the rules. The committee reviewed the draft objection on May 14 but took no action on it.
