Senate Rule S40-10. Types of legislation. The only types of legislation that may be introduced in the Senate are those that have been drafted and approved by the Legislative Services Division and signed by a Senator as chief sponsor. The types of legislation allowed include:
(1) bills of any subject, except appropriations;
(2) joint resolutions, which may be used for any purpose specified in Joint Rule 40-60; and
(3) simple resolutions, which may:
(a) adopt or amend Senate rules;
(b) provide for the internal affairs of the Senate;
(c) express confirmation of the Governor's appointments; or
(d) make recommendations concerning the districting and apportionment plan as provided by Article V, section 14(4), of the Montana Constitution.
